I have to say, the ATH-W5000s is by far my most favorite headphone so far and I own the Senn HD650s, Grado SR125, and ATH-A900s. They sound absolutely amazing. The treble is inviting and not too harsh while the magical midrange is just oh so sweet. The bass is lacking sometimes but its really not bad. One tip is to slightly bend the metal band so its sort of like a oval so you can get a better fit/seal and the bass really comes out. …read full review

The ATH-W5000's trump the HD650 and RS-1 (in my opinion). The treble energy these exihibit is unique and exclusive to the Audio-Technica lineup. Although bass can be lacking at times, the 'hot' midrange and excellent revealance of details make up for the bass deficiency. The W5000's are beyond comfortable. The build quality is solid and the best I've seen in any headphone, carrying the trend of Japanese Quality Control. …read full review

My primary cans for almost everything I listen to (L3000 gets some playing time for those rock sessions). A bit of warning as these cans are very resolving & unforgiving; your upstream components better be good to get the most out of these cans. Some say you build a system around these cans, not the other way around. They are extremely detailed with sparkly highs and thunderous lows. To some they may sound thin & anemic (check your amp & source!). Midrange is perfect for vocals, especially female which I listen to most often. Get them recabled & they'll open up even more! …read full review

These headphones reminded me of Maggies, Manaplanar 3.3 . These detail is so wonderful, but unlike the Planar's you have a great deal of tight bass. If you are looking for a headphone with a sense on pace, rhythm, great detail like an electrostatic look no further. With right tube amp this is match made in heaven. Hooked up to a ASL MG Head, Raptor, or Consonance Cyber 20. and you wiill have headphone bliss. An excellent buy!! …read full review

These headphones are the very best closed ones I have ever heard. I found them to have a "more musical" and real sound than my previous best choice, the Grado GS-1000. It's question of taste, but the ATH-W5000 sound fuller and more detailed than the Grado. I received them in Miami in a few days. Very high end piece of equipment starting for the impressive case. Thank you JT …read full review
