I think these are great headphones and the range is very good. Even though they are not around the ear headphones they seal very well to block out sound which is AWESOME in a club while spinning. My only issue thus far is that if kept on both ears too long, they make the ears sore. However, this is not a problem for me because I am usually switching back and forth from one ear to both and back. They look super sexy, the silver is wicked. The headband part is very comfortable. The rotating earpieces have the right amount of give. As for the reviews of the plastic piece breaking, none of that so far. Besides they are DJ headphones, be careful with them. …read full review

These things are geat! They are cool to put in all the different positions and unlike Martyn Yang said, they are easy to put on the back of your head if you dont wanna look like a nerd with them on the top of your head. They're loud, cool, they're the perfect headphones! so if you really want some good head phones just for personal enjoyment, or for business i recomend these babies! …read full review

These headphones look great on and sound pretty good too! However I do have a few complaints about them. For example, when I listen to them while I'm working on computer at my job after awhile they become pretty uncomfortable, and my ears start to ache a bit, but I put up with cause they sound so good. Also almost right away, the cord shorted out and now I have to switch to mono most of the time unless I bend the cord around a bit to get them to work in stereo. In addition to that, the part right below the L and R indicators and above the ear cup snapped right in half on one side. I love these headphones. They look awesome, and they also sound awesome. The only thing I don't like is that they make your ears hot and sometimes can be uncomfortable. But they are great for large ranges of sound. I use them for listening to and recording my guitar, and there is no problem at all. They have good bass, but it is not overpowering. …read full review

From the look, to the sound, these headphones are the best I have ever used. I don't regret having bought them, and am concidering ordering a second pair as a backup incase either break. The only bad thing I have to say about the hdj-1000's is the quality of the cord. Three weeks after having recieved them the cord broke at the submini connector part and the right ear went dead. For the price that the headphones cost, I would think the cord would be able to last a little longer. Well can't complain about their design or sound quality, because both are _really_ good. But the reason for my low rating, is their durability; I just recieved my pair a few days ago, and already today, the cord for the right speaker has broke, so no sound in right side, unless i switch to mono or bend the cable. So my experience is very negative, despite their sound and design. I had been waiting for them in about 20 days, and im probably now "looking forward" to a month without them, while they are being fixed. …read full review

The Pioneer HDJ-1000 Encapsulated DJ Headphones if not the best mid to high range Headphones for the club or even for home users. I upgraded to these from a pair of Technics 1200's and they're well worth the purchase. The sound quality is excellent and the variety of positions you can used them in for quick monitoring is excellent. Very comfortable to wear though hard to sit on the back of your head for monitoring (ie one on ear, one off ear). Very durable and can take a beating. These headphones are one the best looking headphones I've ever seen!!! I'm 100% satisfied with the money I spent on these babies. I have used so many headphones and none of them sound as good and pure as these. the sound is so amazing and also they have amazing range and bass. These headphones are worth the price. I think that Pioneer makes amazing products and these headphones are one of them. I use a headphone amp and I can't get these to distort because they are so damn strong. …read full review

They are the best if we are talking about the sound! I tried them with 700's in many mixers and they have much more clear sound especially in higher freq. BUT...now, after 4 months using them THEY ARE OFF!! The problem is the plastic which can easily break (and cut the little cable inside).
I bought two pairs (one for a friend) and the other one is ok till now with the same use...I'm searchin for a new pair now and i think i'll buy them again! …read full review

For any DJ or audio enthusiasts, a quality pair of headphones is a prerwquisite. Do not underestimate the need for a really good set of headphones. In a loud arena it is SOOO important to have clear, loud, and distortion-free headphones. Now, normally when buying headphones I would usually stick to the established brands with good reputations such as Sony and Sennheiser. Pioneer however is synonomous with quality however doesnt seem to get the recognition it deserves. That's about to change with the Pioneer HDJ-1000s. These have everything a DJ wants. If you are a DJ and would like to get the best sound, look and quality, this is it. Very comfortable and light. Very good sound insulation. Almost no distortion. Looks awesome. It may be expensive, but If you take into consideration that a headphone would be used for many years, it is really not that expensive. It is an investment not an expense.
