I got these headphones for my girlfriend who works as a medical transcriptionist. She types 8 hours a day, and she said these are the most comfortable phones she ever wore. Good points like: Open air - no steamy ears after wearing them for hours on end; Great quality sound - for figured those mumbled words doctors say in a hurry; Comfortable - light on your head, no pressure points, and can be on for hours on end.. and great quality sound! Too bad Sony do not sell them in the US. They'd been on sale in Japan for a few years (and thank God for AC for carrying them). When earphones models disappear every few months, this is a keeper. I hope sony doesn't …read full review

These may be the most comfortable headphones ever made. You can forget you have them on, and they don't touch your ears in any sense other than through sound. They're light, solid, and unique. These offer incredible soundstaging and midrange lucidity, but because of the open design the bass is not as deep as in other headphones of this size and price. The bass improves with amps that can deliver plenty of voltage, although they'll work well with any portable because of the impedance matching network in the headphones. The top is delicate and airy, but somewhat recessed. Live recordings fare particularly well via these headphones. Superb for wearing at …read full review

I've had the MDR-F1 for a few weeks now and feel ready to write a short review for these headphones. The Sony MDR-F1 is one of the lesser known headphones from Sony. Its design is very unique since they look more like two small speakers strapped to the listener's head rather than headphones. These headphones have one of the most open design I have ever seen and will leak a lot of sound in and out. As such, they are not good phones for outdoor or portable use. Ergonomically, the F1s are incredibly light weight and offer comfort level on par with the Bose Triports. The sound quality on these is very impressive as well. Although the clarity may be lackin …read full review

I believe I've done the homework for you. If you are looking for a headphone that you can wear for hours straight and gives you not the best but a pretty good sound, then this is the one to buy. Hands down the most comfortable headphone in the market. It is not built to take a lot of punishment, but if you are careful you'll have no problems and you will love it. I bought at least 8 headphones with no luck, some Sennheiser, Sony, AKG, Audio Technica etc. this headphone was by far the winner. The cable is thin making it delicate. I made a knot on the left speaker and this protects me from braking it, if by accident I get to pull it too hard. I use it to …read full review

Not arguably, they are, the second best wearing headphones ever made. The best wearing headphones are their follow-on cousin, the 40 mm MDR-605's (totally unavailable - sell your soul to get a pair of these). The MDR-F1's suck power like Las Vegas and rock like LA. Feed them and you are rewarded by a airy, bassy, and ear-shattering cripness that is eerie until it becomes your "standard best rock headphone." Yes you'll look like ailiens have landed, but you won't care -- you can wear these things all day long and not notice. Am I biased, you bet, do I love these things, yup. Should you get a pair? Yes if you like Sony's, know the rock coloration (n …read full review

First off I must say I was quite impressed how fast I got my Sony MDR-F1 delivered by audiocubes. I live in Finland and it took full three (3) days from ordering to having them in my living room. Nice. And cheap delivery cost! I've been using them now couple of months and haven't had any problems so far. Been a bit nervous though since reading some of the reviewers views about durability. So I've been maybe more gentle than I would've...Anyway. My main reason for getting them was that I was fed up having tired ears too quickly, but I can't fault them about sound quality either. They are very comfortable and light, like promised. I use them for classi …read full review

Impressive build quality. It took me a whole week to break these. The cord is excessivley long, and weak. One accidental yank and the left channel was gone forever. If the cord was coiled, I might not have a worthless pair of headphones. Granted, they sounded pretty good while they were still working. However, any movement of that cord gave me a nice blip of bass distortion. If you plan to move around, dont use this headphones. …read full review

Sony MDR-F1 I’ve had these headphones for a few months now and I quite enjoy them. I’m driving them with a Meta42 headphone amp and my source is a Sony CD changer. My other main headphones are Etymotic ER-4P’s. Build, comfort and isolation: The frame is made of a magnesium alloy and the headband is a tough plastic. Both the ear pads and the self adjusting headband are covered with a very soft suede-like material. The end effect is that these headphones are very light and very comfortable; I can wear them for hours with no discomfort. The actual drivers are held away from the frame and are open in the back as well as the front; they are also set at …read full review
