Unfortunately I have had the same experience as the two previous posts.
The sound these headphones produced was excellent, but the plastic hinge holding one of the headphones snapped off this evening when I was packing up to go home from work.
I sit in front of a computer all day so they are not really put under any great stress at all, besides the daily folding of them them inwards in order to transport them in the pouch provided. I have been very careful with them as they were rather expensive.
I would advise anyone who has purchased a pair, or is thinking of doing so, to avoid folding the headphones when you are putting them into the pouch as …read full review

I have already left a review, and stand by it, but I wanted to mention that the same fate befell me, as the last reviewer. I was not rough on these headphones at all, and as I was rotating the driver enclosure, it just snapped off. Several wraps of Electrical tape is the perfect cure, but man, that plastic must be cheap! …read full review

I absolutely LOVE these headphones!
My head isn't particularly large yet the cups don't look when I'm wearing them - a major bonus. The lamb skin band is supple and very comfortable.
What's the sound quality? I'm a long-time fan of Audio Technica products and here's yet another reason - these headphones sound great across a wide variety of genres. There are certainly more high-end products but first, I can't claim to be an audiophile so the quality differences are not particularly missed nor noticed by me. Second, the price of these headphones are reasonable, especially when compared to alot of the high-end products. And finally, these headphones are gor …read full review

I f'ing love these things. They are my portables of choice.
setup: Cowon A2 MP3 player (320 kbps mp3's), Earcandy mini-mini, Ray Samuels SR-71 amp, ATH-ESW9.
The bass is AWESOME. so deep and powerful but the driver must weigh next to nothing because it is very accurate. So powerful that they will overwhelm your music if you like to crank the bass. However this is only just a possibility. If you don't increase the bass from your source, it mixes in beautifully with the rest of the frequencies.
The mids envelop you... when the bass isn't astounding you. Again, spot on.
Again, when your source is not all out of whack, the highs are also basicall …read full review

I have received my new Audio technica portable ATH-ESW9 yesterday , so have tested them during 2 full days ;
The build quality is gorgeus , wood brown housing caps and black the rest are combined in this beautiful cans.
Fitting is good,a little pressure on my ears but it is opening everytime I use it , so in a few days it will fit me
perfect.
Sound : The sound quality is the best I have heard for this kind/price of cans , it has a wide soundstage, quite good
bass and detail in mids and highs , all you can dream for a portable headphone , I use it with my ipod & it sounds
better with a portable amp , more separation & details ;This cans definitively …read full review

I ordered these headphones not expecting great sound quality, I was very wrong. These beautiful wooden headphones offer an amazing sound quality.
They have great bass, details are heard clearly, and they accomplish all of this while remaining very portable. The sound does leak a little, but it does block outside noise (depending on what volume you use, I have mine at about 2/10). When first used they are a bit tight and they do get a bit too warm however, this disappears after a few hours of use.
Overall I recommend these to anyone who wants a great portable headphone that not only performs extremely well, but also looks very very good. …read full review

These AT headphones may be the best portables in existence as of the end of 2007. Gorgeous design and superb build quality, and the sound is fantastic.
These are supra-aural, and sit on your outer ears. The bass is astounding for something designed like this, with clear midrange and extended delicate top. Not quite as transparent as the larger AT models, and without their very wide soundstage, but this may be as good as you can get in a portable. No portion of the frequency range is emphasized too much, although the mid-bass is somewhat bumped to add to the impression of punch and depth (reminds me of the BBC LS3/5A loudspeakers). Great headphones for roc …read full review

I think the price is 40% for the materials, and 60% for the sound quality! …read full review
