I fly quite a bit longhaul and get always exasperated by the amount of background noise the airline headphones let through, so I always carry a set of noicecancelling phones with me. As 'in ear' headphones become uncomfy after 14 hourse flying, I prefer for those long stretches classic ones. I recently had a nice pair od Sonys, but they got stolen, so I was on the market for a new set. The JVC's can be cleverly folded, are rather small and not at all bulky like some other noice cancelling phones. The plastic looks a bit delicate and I think you have to handle them with care.
