Every once in a while a unique product comes out that stands out from the crowd and truely is an improvement from the past...The Homestar Pro is that special piece! Before the Homestar all you could afford to buy for home use was a cheap and blurry looking planetarium that provided you with a static and not very accurate portrayal of the night sky. The times have changed! With this device you get a highly-detailed and crystal-clear MOVING represntation of the night sky that is light years ahead of what was available a few years ago! This amazing device from SEGA brings the home planetarium to a whole new level with different sizes of stars which makes the im …read full review

This product is fantastic. It took us a while to figure out the focus, but once we did, the resolution of the stars was amazing. This Pro version comes with multiple star and moon slides. The instructions, which are in Japanese, aren’t really necessary to set up the projector. With the sleep function, you can display the stars before you go to bed, and watch them as you fall asleep. The room needs to be very dark for this system to work well. There is a switch for activating shooting stars on the starscape. These are really neat. And it’s great to watch the sky rotate. The manual shows how to find your current night sky given your location on the earth a …read full review

I was skeptical at first, I'm mean how cool can it actually be? Its a lot of $$$ to spend on a "gadget". But overall I was very impressed!!! It room does need to be very very dark. And it took a little time to focus it just right. But the results are truly astonishing. I also picked up the southern night skies disk, which is a little nicer then the one that comes w/ the unit. I do think the price on the extra disk is a bit hefty though. …read full review

I'm an amateur astronomer, and heard about the Laser Stars projector through an ad in Sky & Telescope. After some research online, I heard about another projector - only available in Japan - that took a more realistiic approach to proecting the night sky.
My Homestar Pro arrived today - and it's pretty cool. The sky is very realistic (not perfectly realistic, but very). Amazingly, there is some star colour, and after a while staring at the ceiling (in a very dark room), it actually starts to look like the night sky. The shooting stars very cool too. It's restful to look up at.
Note to newbs like me - you must have a dark room, and depending on your ce …read full review

There's no other home planetarium like this one. The star images are crystal clear and a very star-like color. The star images vary in size to convey the different brightnesses of the actual stars, so constellations are very realistic looking. Even the milky way is protrayed, and the number of stars shown is enormous--10,000! Other home planetariums are toys. They only show a few hundred stars that are all the same size, showing up as fat, yellowish colored discs (due to the use of an incandescent bulb). These kinds of planetariums are just toys and the sky image isn't realistic at all. Of course they are maybe a tenth the price of the Homestar, but with the …read full review
