The build quality of this unit is not that impressive, it looks like nothing more than cheap plastic, but it sure comes up with the goods.
It really does give a great 5.1 impression from standard headphones (although mine are good quality headphones).
For people who want 5.1 late at night without waking the kids, I'd definately recommend this. …read full review

Received the product after a small delay in shipment from audiocubes. Packaged well, although, I did get stung with customs that came to just over £30 in total. Unit is small and very light, if a little 'plasticy'. One point that might be of interest to some is that it is possible to turn off all mixing and have a stereo pass through. Overall a nice unit that does what it says on the tin. …read full review

I bought this item from audiocubes a couple of month ago and have been very happy with its audio quality. I use this unit primarily for watching movie with dolby headphone late at night so that I dont' disturb neighbors. The surround sound produced by this unit when hooked up with a optical cable from a dvd digital output is stunning and realistic, so realistic that after some times, you no longer feel like you're watching movie with headphones anymore.
I also hook up the unit with digital out from my laptop often and the sound quality with 2 channel mp3 source is great and will not disappoint you, crystal clear, free of hiss. However, I find the sound qu …read full review

This is a superb item. I'm playing Raindow Six Vegas 2 and the surround sound is awesome. This version is the one with the ac input (not on the US and European models). I've had other 5.1 headphone sets by Creative and Thrustmaster and these just blow them away. Audiocubes delivered the item as promised, they always kept me informed all the way through the transaction and the only down side was Customs charging me an extra £27 before they would release the parcel. So you may want to factor this into your budget. …read full review

This is a very cool item. The built in stereo input is not fantastic, but the mini optical is great. The change in sound is noticable and improved over straight stereo playback. The change in focus through the headphones does indeed greatly reduce listener fatigue through the headphones over a long period of time. This becomes especially important when watching a film. There is a minimal loss in sound quality as the signal passes through the processor while using the included stereo input, but less this is even less noticable through the mini optical.
Hint: be sure to buy this version with the ac input or be prepared for battery frustration. Also, be sure …read full review

I purchased this so I could be more immersed in my games with surround sound without having a 5.1 setup and without having to bother my wife or the sleeping baby. I also bought from Audiocubes because this imported model is the only one that has the port for the A/C adapter. The US JVC branded one does not have the option for an external power supply. Keep in mind the batteries that come with it are regular alkaline and will die out within a couple hours of use. You will most definitely need to use rechargeable batteries, 2000mah or higher.
Overall I think it does a good job. I don’t feel like the center channel is present and over the top sound isn’t …read full review

This adapter takes a mini-TOSlink optical input carrying a Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS signal and converts it to Dolby Headphone virtual surround which is output to any normal stereo headphones.
It may also be used "in reverse" with a regular mini-jack stereo input which will convert it to Dolby Pro-Logic II.
I use this with the optical out on my Xbox 360 and it works great. The signal from the Xbox 360 auto-detects as Dolby Digital and then you select whether you want Dolby Headphone mode A (simulate small recording studio), B (simulate typical room) or C (simulate outdoor area).
If there is one problem with this device it is that it eats batteries fa …read full review

I hooked this up using an optical input to watch Transformers on HD-DVD using headphones and the experience was amazing on the Dolby Headphone DH1 setting.
It really is an amazing experience using this little device. And, the unit from audiocubes (from Japan) supports an AC/DC adapter. …read full review

Even from a stereo source this thing sounds awesome, but using the optical (toslink) from a DVD with 5.1 sound it is amazing.
Dolby Headphone really opens up that "in the head" feel that headphones often have and you get a real sense of where sounds are comeing from.
Not so great for music as it somehow takes away a bit of the smoothness and finesse.
Highly recomended for DVD and TV particularly where you have an optical out. …read full review
