These headphones were my first experience of noise cancelling technology.
First impressions is that they are quite heavy but I haven't experienced much discomfort wearing them for long periods really, they seem to cup around the ears well.
The noise cancelling didn't blow me away though, it mainly seems to cancel out only the very deep rumble (I'm guessing because they were made for plane flights). But people talking etc having the noise cancelling off or on doesn't make any difference.

I can’t highly recommend these headphones enough.
I’m somewhat cautious when it comes to buying headphones, I really like to listen to them and try them on before buying. Having only tried a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 3’s in my local Apple store, the £280 (about $560) price tag was a little hard to justify, but I knew that noise cancelling was the way forward and be an absolute feature for my next headphone purchase. I bought these as an alternative to the expensive Bose products and similar Sony/Philips brands. Although it only has a soft velvet bag to protect it, its folded design is pretty durable. The cable is detachable too.
The sound from these headphones is pretty bass-heavy, so you'll need to adjust your equalizer to reduce the lower frequencies and increase the higher ones. There are actually two noise-reduction settings: standard and SRS (surround). I have not found anything that I could listen to with the SRS setting that sounds good. It ends up just sounding like echoing and heavy reverberation.
