I AM SHOCKED how good these are - I thought I was hearing "all the music" with my Senn H600 and AKG K701, but the resolution and micro detail on these 'phones is just extraordinary. As other reviewers have mentioned, they are really light on the head and extremely comfy - as they need to be, 'cos it's difficult to stop listening once you start ! …read full review

Beautiful headphones, both aurally and aesthetically. The sound is detailed, the soundstage is impressive, and the timbre of the phones is warm and rich. The phones themselves are very light and have a very comfortable fit, and coupled with the great tone quality they produce, I find they don't result in any listener fatigue. For closed headphones, the isolation is sub-par (nowhere near my old Sennheiser HD-280 Pros), so if that's a major concern these phones aren't the best option. I'm constantly impressed with the sound these phones produce though--in terms of sound quality and value, these are a fantastic buy. Highly recommended. …read full review

These are wonderful headphones if you're a fan of the AT sound. No veiling (as in Sennheiser) and nothing "in your face" (as in Grado). Smooth, detailed, incredibly transparent, and with great soundstaging. The headphones benefit from warm sounding amplification, such as a tubed amp or one of the excellent SS designs from Meier Audio or AT. Reviewers suggest the Yamamoto amp is a perfect match, as the amp was voiced using these headphones. This model is not as romantic sounding as the W100 that came before it, but it is more neutral and a bit more extended at the frequency response extremes. Gorgeous construction, incredibly comfortable, and beautiful mus …read full review

In one word - fantastic. These phones are both very detailed, warm and slightly relaxed. They cut that fine balance between leading edge realism and warmth that is so difficult to get right. Bass is deep and well defined. Warm but not overpowering. My speakers do more on the bottom end, but in the space of your own skull, who needs thundering bass. Nothing lacking just no bass boom. Of course this is my opinion, your tastes might be different. The soundstage is better than my £3000 speakers and clarity is at least as good. Isolation is also good. Comfort is good for several hours, but eventually you can do with a break from wearing phones. I think it is m …read full review

There’s nothing special about the bass. It’s all there, but never too much. There’s nothing special about the highs. It’s all there, but never too much. There maybe something special about the mids. It’s fluent, it makes both male and female voices present but not too upfront. The fact that the Audio Technica W1000’s have nothing too much or too little, makes them soundwize the most perfect I’ve ever owned. I come from DT 831 (too bright) and DT 880 (too much ultra treble, too little mids, sometimes too boomy bass). The W1000’s give me the feeling I hear the music, not the cans. The comfort is nothing special, but they fit just nicely. (the DT 880 are stil …read full review

I received my AT - W1000 Headphones. I must say that the service was fantastic. I ordered the phones on Feb 4 and they arrived shipped in 5 business days. Much thanks to the audiocubes with getting me these cans in a professional manner. I just had a few moments to listen to them and the sound is very good. I'm gonna let them burn in for the next few days. I am expecting nothing but the best in sound quality. The feel of the w1000's is amazing. It feels so comfortable!! I am an owner of Grado SR-125's....which i love....but they can get way too uncomfortable after extended periods of listening. Thats when i read of all of the glowing reviews here and …read full review

After shopping and reading for a few months I finally decided to order the Audio Technica ATH-W1000 from AudioCubes (great shop to deal with by the way). The W1000 have been bought to replace my old Beyerdynamic DT511. The box they come in is nothing fancy. The headphone itself however is, ho, really sharp. The wooden plug is neat, the cable has a retro style fabric finish, its not plastic/vinyl. They are heavy when you take them in your hands but once on the head it doesn’t feel like that at all. Comfort wise, they are quite comfy, definitely one of the, if not the best I’ve tried. Overall I find that the W1000 is way up there with it's competition i …read full review

Overall, the most favorable headphones I've used, and I have used Senn 600, Beyer 888, Sony 3000 and Grado RS-2. Bass lacks quantity, so it won't shake your head like some other phones do. But you get quality instead ----deep and tuneful. If the last drop of honey is absolutely necessary, add a good tone control, I mean Accuphase or McIntosh, not Arcam or Nad. When it comes to mids and highs, these phones have no peer. Smooth, warm, airy, detailed, sweet, emotional.... everything! …read full review

I have had these now for a long period of time and I love them. I have owned another pair of higher priced phones and they were no where near these. I like the bass just the way it is not over done and tight. The mid's and high's are smoother than any other phone's I have ever had or listened too! Also without a doubt some of the most comfortable phones you can buy. You can wear them for hours and there is no pain and if you can,t wear them what good are they? Good job and highly recommended! …read full review

All I can say is fanstastic, these earphones are balanced on the warmer side but with most digital electronics today this is a bonus. I own a full naim setup and these are a superb match as they make vocals sound natural with great timing and a very smooth sound. These are great for a wide range of music not for boom and tiss merchants a more cultured sound creating a great soundstage, very efficient and the best made earphones I have ever come across that includes sennheiser, akg beyer etc. Buy these with confidence if you want a cracking pair of headphones. …read full review

awesome headphones, the bass is none existent? dude, these headphones are more classical, not for listening to your bass driven music but more instrumental. in that the ATH-w1000's kick ass, you don't use a fine wood for blasting bass. audio-technica's ATH-W1000's are an awesome piece of equepment for enjoying the finest strum of any key listening to it shimmer and feeling like you were to be in statium hearing Canon in D major. these headphones are amazing, they take you away to a place you have never been. …read full review

The bass is very disappointing on these headphones: It’s almost non-existent. There are far better headphones on the market which cost a lot less than these. I wouldn’t recommend them given the performance of the pair I have received. The mid & highs are very good, so if you like a good soundstage with great clarity (without bass) then these are okay. They look good – but they really need to sound at least half as good as they look to warrant keeping them, and because there are so many other great headphones about, these won’t stay long in my possession. I’ll avoid AT headphones in the future. …read full review

I purchased these headphones after falling in love with the Audio-Technica sound I found in the ATH-A500s...I also purchased a MGHead OTL tube amp to power these, and frankly, I have found the headphones of my dreams. These headphones are cosmetically beautiful in every aspect; the wood finish shines brightly and looks absolutely elegant...the matching wood-finished tip on the 1/4" adapter is just another touch of class. They are a work of art and their greatness doesn't stop with their looks. Aside from looking amazing, they are extremely comfortable. The leather ear cups are cool and pleasing to the touch and can be worn for long sittings without pai …read full review

Comparison of the ATH-W1000 & W100 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am very familiar with the W100 sound and could immediately identify differences between it and the newer W1000. For those fence sitters deciding on whether to take the plunge or not, here is a breakdown of what I felt were the major differences between the W100 and W1000: Upper Mids & Highs The W1000 has a much more focused high frequency presentation than the W100. I have always felt that the W100 was a little soft on top and could use some better extention and decay. The W1000 provides this quality whic …read full review
