The Audio-Technica ATH-AD2000 Air Headphone is my first high-end cans and I am very pleased with its overall quality. My conclusion, it’s really not necessary for a dedicated amp so save your money. The bass has rich full tones. Mid sounds seemed a little muddled, but I’m not complaining. Highs were adequate for my ears. Overall I felt like I was on a sound stage. The headphones appear to be somewhat fragile so need to be careful not to drop it. The Audio Technica AD2000's are easily some of the best headphones available in their price range. They offer the punchy forward sound of a Grado with the elegance and craftsmanship that Audio Technica is known for. What seperates the AD2000 from other similarly priced headphones is their excellent dynamics and accuracy. The AD2000's also offer good performance without the need for high priced amplification. So users can still get a quality experience without breaking the bank.
While the AD2000's don't quite have the detail and instrument seperation of the SA5000, both are still quite good on this headphone, all while offering much better tonal balance. …read full review
